Raw Materials for Glass Bottles
What is glass made from? Glass is made from natural raw materials.
Over 70% of a typical glass bottle consists of silica (sand), combined with sodium carbonate (soda ash) and limestone to reduce the melting point of silica. Depending on its intended use, additives such as magnesium (for strength) or iron oxide (for a green tint) may be introduced.
Additionally, we incorporate cullet (recycled glass fragments) gathered from production waste or post-consumer glass streams. This helps conserve new raw materials and reduce energy consumption.

One of glass’s greatest advantages is its ability to be recycled endlessly without loss of purity. Incorporating cullet reduces the need for virgin raw materials and lowers energy consumption – recycled glass melts at a lower temperature than pure silica, making processing more efficient.
